Walking into our ICU is like visiting one of your no-count cousins down at the city jail.  The doors have that glass with the chicken wire running through it, just like lock up.  Don't know exactly who they think they can keep out, 'cause we sure get all kinds here at St. Teresa's.

We can handle 12 patients here at the ICU, but when there's a big run on drive bys or a holiday weekend, we've been known to squeeze in 14. Not really rooms like you see on a regular hospital floor. All the beds is around the walls of unit with old blue and white striped curtains to pull around for a little privacy. No windows here either, just some fluorescent lights overhead. Sometimes patients get a little whacky down here, wondering if it's day or night. Monika calls that "ICU psychosis" or some such. I think it is all the crazy colors down here that make people crazy. Some walls are bright blue, others are industrial yellow. Just depends on what color paint the facilities department had plenty of when they got around to trying to fix the place up. Add in some avocado green counters and orange cabinets just to make it look even worse.
